SAUNA & COLD PLUNGE WELLBEING SESSIONS

Located in the heart of Hoylake, Wirral, the JC Wellbeing Community Health & Wellbeing Centre is set in a vibrant, wellbeing-focused community just steps from the beach.

 

Our sauna, cold plunge, and wellbeing sessions are designed to help you reconnect with your physiology, promoting both mental and physical wellbeing in a setting that encourages growth and resilience.

WHAT IT IS:

​

Our cold plunge & sauna wellbeing sessions combine the benefits of sauna heat with the invigorating effects of a cold plunge. This guided experience uses both elements in succession to maximise your body’s stress response, improve circulation, and enhance overall resilience.

​

BENEFITS:

​

During these sessions, you will learn how to regulate your breath and control your physiological responses as you move between heat and cold. This approach not only boosts physical recovery and mental clarity but also provides you with powerful tools to manage stress and improve resilience in everyday life.​​​

WHAT TO EXPECT

Sauna & Cold Plunge

BEFORE YOUR SESSION:​

Once you’ve booked your 60-minute session online, please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled start time. We allow 15 minutes between sessions to prepare the sauna and cold plunge for your experience.

​

When booking you'll be prompted to sign the waiver (acknowledging the benefits and precautions of sauna and cold plunge therapy).  Please discuss any health concerns with your doctor ahead of time.

Bring minimal personal items. We provide a box for your belongings, but please note that JC Wellbeing does not take responsibility for lost items.

BEFORE SAUNA & COLD PLUNGE

DURING YOUR SESSION:​

First 15 Minutes: Learning and Preparation

​

Your session begins with 15 minutes of guided education to help you understand and manage your physiology. You’ll learn key techniques for:

​

  • Breathing to regulate your nervous system and manage stress.

  • Stress and anxiety management, focusing on how to shift your body’s response through breathwork and cold exposure.

  • Creating new habits, such as incorporating cold exposure at home with techniques like cold showers.

​

This introductory session, rooted in the Physiology First approach, gives you practical tools to use both during the session and in your daily life.

​

The Sauna and Cold Plunge Experience (45 Minutes)


Following the initial learning, you have 45 minutes to use the sauna and cold plunge facilities at your own pace, either unguided or with coaching if preferred.

Sauna or Cold Plunge First – Your Choice...


You can choose to start with either the sauna or the cold plunge.

 

If you begin with the sauna, you’ll warm up in our wood-fired sauna, focusing on using the breathing techniques to manage the heat. If you start with the cold plunge, you’ll use the breathing and stress management techniques to gradually adapt to the cold.

 

The goal is to use these methods to enhance your physiological resilience and mental clarity.

​

You are free to alternate between the sauna and cold plunge at your own pace, repeating the cycle as often as you like during the session. The team will be available to guide you through each step if needed, or you can enjoy the experience on your own.

​

This experience empowers you to reconnect with your body’s natural processes, helping you build resilience and develop habits to manage stress and improve your wellbeing.

AFTER YOUR SESSION: â€‹

​

Once your session concludes, you can cool down and change in our private outdoor changing space. It’s simple, functional, and provides a space for you to freshen up and change into something warm.

 

The combination of heat and cold exposure, alongside the breathing techniques, will leave you feeling revitalised and equipped with practical tools to manage stress and anxiety in everyday life.

The team will debrief with you and encourage you to integrate what you have learned during your session back into your daily life.
